Project Overview
Helpjuice is an expansive online platform used by thousands of brands for creating and managing knowledge bases. Despite having an extensive user base and a favorable design, there were many things amiss in terms of SEO. We stepped in to clear up those issues and improve their overall rankings.
The Challenge
Before we took over, Helpjuice had seen a deluge of haphazard publishing activity that resulted in hundreds of unnecessary pages. Our task was not simply to optimize and add to the website as one would normally do, but also to clean up the remains of the past work and undo the damage. Among others, the “bloat” manifested itself in the following ways:
Unnecessary blog pages that were centered around terms that had no real volume and were programmatically created
Unoriginal and low-quality images that showed up against Helpjuice’s name and harmed its perceived quality
Low-quality content that was present on the landing page(s) and was affecting the latter’s performance

The Steps That Were Required
There was much to be done on Helpjuice so that we could undo the damage of the past activities and, at the same time, show measurable growth in rankings to indicate the efficacy of our strategy in the short term. Here are the steps that had to be taken:
Extensive analysis of the site’s search data to see which pages were working and which were dead weight
Sifting through the hundreds of pages to see which ones had to be kept, which ones had to be improved, and which ones had to be deleted
Optimization of the main pages using keywords and semantic entities, and a focus on scannability using elements like formatted data and BLUF
Monitoring and tracking of data, new and old, to constantly guide our strategy and approach
The Execution
As the plan came together, we began working through the site page by page, cleaning out the dead weight and rebuilding what was worth keeping. Progress was steady at first, but a series of Google core updates hit mid-project and threw a wrench into our timeline. Rankings fluctuated; some pages we'd already optimized took unexpected dips, and we had to keep revisiting our approach to account for shifts we hadn't planned for.
Despite the turbulence, we stayed the course. Our team adjusted the strategy on the fly, reprioritized which pages needed immediate attention, and kept communication open with Helpjuice throughout. We hit every deliverable we'd committed to, and the partnership held strong through what could have easily derailed a less experienced team.
